Birthday Party FAQs
Am I allowed to have a party in a party room without a reservation?
No. While we do allow families to use the lunchroom as a cafeteria if there is not a reservation at that time, we do not allow large groups to gather as a party without paying the reservation fee and signing a contract.
As a non-profit organization, parties and rentals help us continue to provide the community with a safe, fun place for families to gather.
What days/times are available?
Saturdays and Sundays

How far in advance can/should I book a party?
To get your first choice of date, time, and room, it is recommended to book at least two months in advance. Parties can be reserved online as far as one year in advance and six days before your preferred date.
Do I have to pay the entire thing at once?
To secure your date, we require a non-refundable deposit of $50 at the time of booking. This will be applied towards your total balance.
The remaining balance is not due until check-in on the day or your party, but it can be paid in any amount in advance over the phone or in person on days that we are open to the public. Those who book through our website will receive an email notification allowing them to electronic payment(s).
Do Kidzeum members get a discount?
Yes! Kidzeum members receive a 10% discount on party rentals. Membership must be active through the date of your party to receive the discount.
We do not accept reciprocal memberships from other museums for this discount.
What does the cost cover?
- 90 minutes with party guests in the private room.
- 15 minutes of host set up time prior to party.
- 15 minutes of host clean up time after party.
- Basic paper goods (Plates, cups, napkins, forks, spoons)
- Admission for guests up to the room’s capacity (must have at least one adult for every five children).
- Lunchroom: 40* people
- Party Room: 25* people
*Guests over these numbers and not included in the guest list will be charged general admission prices, or the reservation host can opt to pay for these guests.
Please note, the rental fee is for the cost of the room reserved and does not change based on the number of guests who attend your event.
What does a "Kidzeum Party Host" do?
These are the staff members and volunteers that you may see throughout your party at Kidzeum. They will take you to your room, go over a quick orientation, check in your party guests, pop in a couple times throughout your party to check if they can help with anything, and make sure the room’s capacity is being maintained.
At the end of your rental time, they will assist in cleaning by vacuuming, sanitizing tables and taking the trash out (reservation hosts are responsible for removing food, decorations, and other belongings).
If I booked the last party slot of the day, how do I make sure the kids have enough time to play?
Your party covers admission all day for your guests. If you do not feel that 90 minutes is enough to eat, do presents, AND play, your guests can play prior to the room rental.
To take advantage of this, we do require that the contract, guest list, and payment are submitted in advance and the staff have been notified (by calling the museum or emailing the Visitor Engagement Coordinator) in advance.
Children must be supervised by an adult; children cannot be dropped off if the host or other designated adult is not present. If the adult or siblings are not included on the guest list, they will be charged general admission.
Minimum, how many adults do I need to have present to fill every spot while maintaining the adult to child ratio?
- For the 25-person room, this would be 5 adults and 20 children, IF each adult was always watching up to 5 children.
- For the 40-person room, this would be 7 adults and 33 children, IF each adult was always watching up to 5 children.
Can I purchase additional time in the room?
Currently, we do not offer the option to purchase additional time in the party rooms without purchasing an entirely party block.
What if I need room for more than 40 guests or want a party during the week?
Our largest private area can only accommodate 40 guests and is only available on weekends. If you need more room or a party during the week, we offer after-hours private rentals. Scheduling private rentals is dependent on staff and resource availability. These can be requested through our website or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our room capacity limits are based on the maximum occupancy determined by the fire marshal. We cannot allow more than this capacity at any time.
What if most of my guests are infants or members? Can I technically add more people since they are free admission?
Unfortunately, no. The party package prices are a flat rate based on the size of the room and the maximum occupancy determined by the fire marshal. There cannot be more people in the room than the capacity, even if that person is a member or an infant.
Reservation hosts with memberships do receive a discount at the time of their booking, but they do not receive a discount for guests over capacity.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
If needed, you can reschedule or cancel your party up to 72 hours in advance. There is no additional cost for rescheduling and is based on room availability. Cancelling will forfeit the $50 non-refundable portion of your payment.
If you must cancel or reschedule within 72 hours due to documented illness or inclement weather, please call Kidzeum or email the Visitor Engagement Coordinator to discuss your options.
Canceling without prior notice will forfeit the option to reschedule your party.
