Migrating Mural

About the Artists: Ink Dwell Studios

Founded by artist and science illustrator Jane Kim, Ink Dwell Studios is known for its stunning large-scale murals that celebrate the natural world. With a mission to inspire people to love and protect the Earth through art, Ink Dwell has completed similar installations across the country, each one rooted in environmental education and community engagement.

The Kidzeum mural is part of their larger "Migrating Mural" series, which highlights the journeys of endangered species and the ecosystems they rely on. This particular installation is part of the Route 66 Monarch Flyway, an initiative connecting communities along the historic highway through public art, native plants, and pollinator-friendly habitats.

Why This Matters for Springfield

The Migrating Mural is more than just a piece of public art - it's a spark for conversation, a resource for learning, and a reason to explore downtown Springfield. It:

  • Beautifies our urban landscape with a striking visual centerpiece
  • Educates the public about pollinators, native plants, and conservation
  • Inspires environmental stewardship in children and adults alike
  • Supports tourism along Route 66 and revitalization efforts in the heart of the city

Whether you're walking past on Adams Street or visiting Kidzeum with your family, the mural invites you to stop, look closer, and learn something new about the world we share.

Come See It for Yourself!

We invite you to visit Kidzeum and see the Migrating Mural up close. Take a moment to appreciate the vibrant art, reflect on the story it tells, and discover what you can do to help pollinators in your own backyard.

Together, through creativity and conservation, we can help the Monarchs keep flying, and keep our communities blooming.
