Winter Seed Sowing at Kidzeum!
On Saturday, January 18th, we'll be learning all about plant life during the wintertime and beginning to grow our own gardens using native plants. Many native plant seeds need a period of cold, moist stratification to germinate. By planting them now, you let nature do the work for you!
What to Bring: A clean, transparent milk jug to create your own miniature greenhouse to take home.
What We Provide: Soil, seeds, and step-by-step instructions.
Event Highlights:
* Brief presentations at 10:30 AM and repeated at 1:00 PM.
* Drop in anytime between 10:30 AM and 2:00 PM to plant your seeds.
* Friendly volunteers from the Illinois Native Plant Society, Starhill Forest Arboretum, and Springfield Audubon Society will be available to assist and answer your questions.
Bonus: Additional local native seeds from 3 B Natives will be available for purchase in the gift shop.
Let’s grow something beautiful together for our pollinators and the planet!
