Together, Compass for Kids and Kidzeum seek a results-oriented professional with expertise in graphic design, PR, Marketing and Advertising.

Position Description:

The Director of Marketing will be a full-time employee of Compass for Kids, with 50% of time being contracted to Kidzeum. The Director of Marketing will be key to the development and promotion of each organization’s mission, as well as upholding brand integrity. This role requires the ability to manage multiple, competing projects, timelines, priorities, and budgets. The ideal candidate for the Director of Marketing position will be both a self-starter who can also successfully collaborate with a team.

Compass for Kids is a local, volunteer-driven, community-based, 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Compass for Kids is unique and exists to meet needs in our community that are not met by other programs/organizations. Compass for Kids’s mission is to provide academic and social-emotional support to empower children and families underserved by our community. Each organization will provide a more specific list of job responsibilities upon hire. The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Duties and Responsibilities:

● Oversee all marketing and public relations efforts

● Create engaging and visually appealing content across all marketing channels

  • Cultivates ideas and translate conceptual input into designs while maintaining a high level of quality
  • Maintains and updates Style Guide and ensures all materials adhere to brand
  • Develop brand awareness and maintains brand integrity
  • Manages design budgets and design-related purchase orders and invoices
  • Attend organization’s programs to capture pictures and videos for content

● Plan, execute, and continuously oversee marketing strategies and advertising campaigns that drive interest and results in increased revenue by

  • Using project software to communicate with team, maintain timelines and update project lists
  • Corresponding with local media outlets
  • Sourcing materials and working closely with printing vendors

● Write monthly blog posts

● Manage and update digital marketing channels such as the website and social media

● Work with other staff or organizations

● Liaison to Board’s Marketing Committee

● Other duties as assigned

Requirements

● Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Creative Writing, Public Relations or related field, or equivalent work experience

● 3+ years of graphic design experience

● 3+ years of experience executing marketing strategies

● 3+ years of social media management

● 1+ year(s) of project management experience

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:

● Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop required; ability to learn Adobe Creative Suite apps as needed

● Strong understanding of current marketing concepts, strategy and best practices for reaching diverse audiences across platforms

● Excellent creative writing, editing, proofreading skills

● Excellent communicator who is comfortable engaging with individual visitors and large crowds

● Excellent time management skills with ability to manage a variety of responsibilities under pressure

● Goal-oriented with the ability to analyze data and provide action-oriented plans

● Ability to work well with different teams as well as independently

● Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds

● Ability to be flexible and adaptable

● Not-for-profit experience a plus

Location and Schedule: Springfield, IL. Some remote work may be allowed.

The schedule for this position is generally during business hours; occasionally, evenings and weekends may be required for special events.
