A letter from our Executive Director
February 1, 2022
2022 is off to a great start and I want to share a quick update with you about Kidzeum and highlight the talented team we’ve assembled to bring new exhibits and programs to life.
First, on behalf of the board of directors and staff, I want to thank all of our members and supporters for seeing us through the pandemic thus far. Kidzeum received critical relief funding from state and federal sources, in addition to generous donations from local patrons. Thank you for believing in us and demonstrating with your dollars that Kidzeum is of value to families in our community.
While Omicron has continued to challenge us by keeping our weekend admissions under par, we have had a very successful launch of our STEAM Residency Program, in partnership with School District 186, that has been funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, as well as other foundations and local donors. The program is creating a path forward for us to more deeply engage in community-based education and we are eager to keep advancing those efforts.
We are hopeful that this year brings us to a positive bend in the road with COVID-19 and we are ramping up our offerings in anticipation of increased participation as we move into spring. We will be sharing our plans with you in the coming months!
The pandemic was an extremely difficult time for so many businesses and nonprofits, but especially when good teams of people were lost in a bid for survival. Happier times have arrived, and we are blessed to have thoughtful, creative, hard-working new staff members. I hope you will join me in welcoming them!
I look forward to seeing you all back at Kidzeum—
